Professional Steam Cleaners in Stirling - Our 13 Step Process

1. Inspection

First, our professional steam cleaners will do a thorough inspection of your carpets to identify any problem areas like stains, heavily soiled areas or areas of your carpet which may have been badly fitted. We will discuss these problems with you before any work is undertaken.

2. Wet Test

Our professional steam cleaners will then perform what is known as a wet test on your carpet. This is a simple test to gain information on what may have befallen your carpet at some point in the past .We apply some water to your carpet, lightly agitate, recover the residue then test on pH indicator paper. This will let us know if any heavy chemicals have been used on your carpet in a past clean.

3. Burn Test

We will then pick a small, loose fibre from the carpet edge and then perform a “burn test” on it. All we do, is hold the fibre close to or insert it directly into a flame and observe how the fibre reacts to the flame. A natural fibre like wool will only burn when inserted directly and will extinguish when withdrawn. A synthetic fibre like polypropylene will melt while approaching the flame. By using this method we can identify which type of carpet you have and then choose the appropriate cleaning solution for the fibres. Many untrained or lazy carpet cleaners miss it out this important step in the carpet cleaning process and will attempt to clean sensitive fibres like wool with the wrong cleaning solution and so risk damaging your carpet.

4. High-Filtration Vacuum

Our professional steam cleaners will vacuum your carpets with a high filtration cleaning system specifically designed for super-high performance professional cleaning.

5. Move Large Furnishings

We will use sliders to move larger furnishings – such as chairs, tables and couches – but for insurance reasons we ask you to move smaller valuable items such as ornaments before we arrive. (unfortunately we will be unable to move heavy items like display cabinets or TV units).

6. Pre-Spot Difficult Stains

We will pre-spot your carpet for all difficult stains. That is we will carry out specialist stain removal techniques on stains which are of particular concern to you – or that we know will be difficult to remove using non-specialist techniques. We cannot guarantee to remove every stain but we are confident that, if we can’t remove it, then know one can.

7. Heavy Duty Pre-Spray

Next our professional steam cleaners will apply a heavy-duty pre-spray specially designed to electro-mechanically lift oily dirt and pollutants from your carpet fibres and suspend them floating in an aqueous solution ready to be quickly and safely extracted using our state-of-the-art extraction machines.

8. Agitate

We will then gently scrub the pre-spray deep into the carpets fibres by using our Cleanfix Floormac machine. This is another important part of the process which many untrained or lazy carpet cleaners miss out and which results in their cleaning solution only reaching the top of the carpet fibres.

9. Airflex Steam/Hot Water Extraction Machine

The Airflex high pressure steam/hot water extraction unit we use cleans much better because it heats water to a high temperature and then shoots the cleaning solution into the carpet at high pressure. This helps to break up the dirt, bacteria and pollens in the carpet. The machine then produces a huge vacuum volume to draw the dirt and chemicals out of your carpet.

10. Residue Rinse

We use the extraction machine to ensure a residue free rinse. This ensures the integrity of your carpet and helps to retard re-soiling.

11. Protective Foil Tabs

Furniture is replaced back onto the carpet with protective foil tabs and Styrofoam blocks under the legs. Why? Well sometimes the moisture left in the carpet will leach out any colour-stain finish from the furniture. This leaves a (very difficult to remove) stain on the carpet.

12. Grooming

Where appropriate we also will groom your carpet to leave it in best possible condition. This usually means we run a grooming rake over the carpet to ensure the fibres are tangle-free and ‘fluffy’ as possible.

13. Rapid-Dry™

Finally, our professional steam cleaners will use special carpet dryers to rapidly dry your carpets.
